Garda Vetting

Students who will be entering schools to carry out School Placement as part of their Professional Master of Education (Post-Primary Teaching – DC905) programme 2023 in Dublin City University are subject to a Garda Vetting procedure.

If you are successful in securing an offer on the programme the Postgraduate Applications Centre will record your acceptance of that offer of a place. However, your registration on the programme is subject to compliance with the University's policy on Garda Vetting and the University will provide you with a Garda Vetting Form.

Please note that The Teaching Council also requires registration applicants to undergo the Garda Vetting process after you have completed the PME. PME applicants should therefore not seek to undergo the vetting process via the Teaching Council.

A representative from the Teaching Council will visit PME colleges during your programme to brief students on the role of the Council. At these briefings students will be invited to begin the teacher registration Garda Vetting process. It is important that students attend this briefing and/or make themselves aware of the registration and vetting requirements.
