Instructions for NUI Galway Taught/Structured Masters Postgraduate Studies Application

(N.B. Read these instructions carefully before proceeding with your application)

  1. If you have a disability that prevents you from completing the online application please advise the Postgraduate Admissions Officer at NUI Galway who will arrange an application in an agreed accessible format.
  2. You should familiarise yourself with the entry requirements for each programme to which you apply, as detailed in the current NUI Galway prospectus. In particular, you should note the commencement date for each programme and the submission dates for receipt of completed applications.
  3. Each applicant may apply for up to three taught programmes. If you wish to apply for more than three programmes you must make an additional application via PAC (Postgraduate Applications Centre).
  4. You must have an active e-mail account in order to use this facility. It is your responsibility to check your account regularly and ensure it is active and in working order. Applicants using webmail e-mail addresses, note you if you have the high junk mail filtering option in your e-mail account, e-mails from the PAC and NUI Galway may be flagged as Junk. You must either reduce the Junk mail filter or add PAC (noreply@pac.ie) and NUI Galway e-mail addresses as two of your safe senders.
  5. All communications regarding the status of your application will be sent to you via e-mail. It is your responsibility to ensure that you check your e-mail account regularly for such correspondence.
  6. All applicants MUST note their Postgraduate Studies 8 digit application number which will be given to you at the final stage of the application procedure. All supplementary documentation forwarded to the Postgraduate Applications Centre MUST be marked with your Postgraduate Application Number.
  7. In order to complete your application you will need to enter your personal details in addition to your previous qualifications, relevant previous work experience and the name and contact details of two references. Please ensure that you have this information to hand before proceeding with your application. Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 8 or above must be installed on your computer, in order to be able to access and read some of our PDF downloadable forms.
  8. To complete your application you must submit supporting paper documentation evidencing your qualifications to date (e.g. Transcripts of Results, English Language Competency) and any other information indicated at the end of this application process. Copies of originals must be certified as true copies. Original documentation submitted cannot be returned.
  9. Please submit all documentation on A4 (or equivalent) size paper. Documentation must either be uploaded via the "My Account" link or post to the Postgraduate Applications Centre, 1 Courthouse Square, Galway, Ireland. This information should arrive within as soon as possible of submitting your application online. Your application can be assessed only when this information is received. It is advisable to obtain a certificate of postage when posting supporting documentation

  10. Supporting documentation or information that cannot be submitted at the time of application (e.g. future exam sittings, English language exams) may be submitted at a later stage either uploaded via the "My Account" link or can be posted to the Postgraduate Applications Centre.

  11. After you have entered your application details, you will be expected to pay a non-refundable application fee payment of €50. This payment may be made by credit card (MasterCard/Visa) or debit card (Laser). Please note non-Irish visa debit cards are not accepted. It is also possible to pay by Bank Transfer although payments by these methods are subject to an additional administration charge of €5. Should an applicant wish to make an additional application of a different type (i.e. taught or research), the applicant will get this additional application fee free of charge.
  12. Please note that applicants from outside of the EU may be expected to obtain a study visa for entry into Ireland to pursue their studies. Under current immigration regulations available from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, it is not possible to obtain a study visa where you are pursuing a part-time programme. If you are an applicant from outside the EU and are applying for a part time course it is your responsibility to determine whether under Irish regulations nationals from your home country are required to obtain a study visa.
